Therefore, I can't seem to get a "crystal clear" sound without using Reference together with EQ.

Mind you this is different from the EQ I do to correct Reference. I then gave it a listen without Reference, and it didn't sound that great, definitely not flat (I understand there is far more to EQing earphones to a flat response, it was just to get an indication of how closely that frequency response graph matched what my ears heard).

I also have doubts about the graph I'm using as the M2's freq response, as I did an experiment where I made the window of Fab-Filter Pro Q 2 that I'm using in foobar (and also to "correct" Reference) transparent using a program called Peek Through, superimposed it on a flipped and rotated image of the frequency response graph after matching all the dimensions, freq and amp axes etc, and replicated the "correction" curve perfectly.

However, I can tell it's not a real flat response, as some song-specific adjustments still have to be made, and there is significant sibilance that I haven't figured how to mitigate without losing detail etc. I have been going through the presets, trying to find one that is similar to my current earbuds, as Reference only has corrections for headphones, and so far the Sony MDR-ZX110AP Averaged one, along with some EQ corrections on Reference's correction curve, based on the frequency response that I found here for the M2 IEs has given some pretty amazing sounding results. Until then, I bought Sonarwork's Reference 4 for them, and I've been using it with the in ear earbuds I currently have, Sennheiser Momentum IEG M2. Hey everyone, first post here, I recently got into the world of audiophile audio, and I'll soon buy the AKG K712 PRO, along with the Modi 2 DAC and Magni 3 amp.
